Geje Eustaquio Split on Demetrious Johnson – Adriano Moraes Flyweight Title Fight

Former ONE Flyweight World Champion Geje “Gravity” Eustaquio of Team Lakay shared his insight on the upcoming Demetrious Johnson vs. Adriano Moraes flyweight showdown.

Johnson and Moraes will do battle for the latter’s ONE Flyweight World Title in the main event of “ONE on TNT I,” the first of a four-part event series which broadcasts live on Wednesday, April 7 (Thursday, April 8 in Asia) from the Singapore Indoor Stadium in Singapore.

Eustaquio, who has a win and a loss against Moraes, will be watching this fight intently from his home in Baguio City, Philippines. “Gravity” weighed each fighter’s strengths and weaknesses against each other, and he’s expecting a very entertaining, and also highly technical fight.

“Adriano has the better reach, and he’s a pure grappler. If this fight goes to the ground, I think Mighty Mouse is going to be in a bit of trouble. The edge in grappling definitely goes to Adriano. That being said, Demetrious Johnson is an incredible grappler and has great defense. Adriano will have his work cut out for him,” Eustaquio told ONE Championship.

“Demetrious is an intelligent fighter. I think his fight IQ is second to none. The way he moves in the cage, how relaxed he is, and his ability to analyze his opponent and break him down mid-fight is a huge advantage. That’s what makes Mighty Mouse a special fighter, and why he’s been so successful in his career.”

While Eustaquio has yet to face Johnson, his teammate, #2-ranked flyweight Danny “The King” Kingad has had the opportunity to do so. Kingad lost a wide unanimous decision to Johnson in the final round of the ONE Flyweight World Grand Prix back in October of 2019.

Team Lakay has had experience fighting both Johnson and Moraes, so they know what to expect when the two clash in the Circle. Eustaquio, however, feels the winner will be hard to predict.

“This fight will come down to who is willing to give it everything they have. Adriano has that length that has been a problem for Demetrious in his career. Demetrious is obviously considered one of the greatest of all time, and for good reason. Whoever lays everything out on the table wins this fight,” said Eustaquio.

“I’ve faced Adriano in the Circle. I know what he’s capable of. Danny [Kingad] has fought Demetrious and he knows what it’s like in there with him. Honestly, predicting this one is hard. It could go either way.”

The “ONE on TNT” series will air every Wednesday from April 7 for four weeks. Each week will include a preliminary card digitally streamed exclusively on the Bleacher Report App and B/R Live from 9 p.m. to 10 p.m. ET, followed by three main card fights televised exclusively on TNT in the U.S. at 10 p.m. ET.

The stacked April 7 card will also feature the return of former UFC Lightweight Champion Eddie “The Underground King” Alvarez who faces #2-ranked lightweight contender Iuri Lapicus in the co-main event, as well as an appearance from reigning ONE Flyweight Muay Thai World Champion Rodtang “The Iron Man” Jitmuangnon of Thailand.
