Seika Izawa Returns Women’s Super Atomweight Title
On April 12, during the intermission of “Yamato Development presents RIZIN LANDMARK 13 in FUKUOKA,” RIZIN Women’s Super Atomweight Champion Seika Izawa stepped into the cage to announce her pregnancy with her first child and the return of her championship belt.
“I’m not done yet, so whoever ends up with this belt next, I consider them a temporary champion while I’m away. I’ll balance both raising my child and martial arts and return to this stage as soon as possible, so Mr. Sakakibara, please arrange a title match for me when I come back,” she said, leaving a powerful comment with her sights set on regaining the title.

The title “RIZIN” combines the Japanese word for “thunder god” (from the ancient deity of thunder) with the English word “rise” (meaning “rising”). By adding the letter “Z”—the final letter of the alphabet, which signifies “final” and “ultimate”—the title embodies our goal and determination to create “a stage that continues to rise and shine forever.”
On December 29 and 31, 2015, the “RIZIN FIGHTING WORLD GRAND-PRIX” was held at the Saitama Super Arena, the mecca of combat sports. Saitama Super Arena, the “RIZIN FIGHTING WORLD GRAND-PRIX” featured a tournament centered on top-tier fighters from organizations around the world. Fans were captivated by the essence of combat sports, including the fresh battles of fighters making their MMA debuts, the pride-driven battles of veterans, and the beautiful battles between female fighters.
With this event as our vanguard, we have launched three arrows into the world of combat sports.
First, to build a passionate stage worthy of a grand finale for fighters bringing their careers to a close.
Second, to create a stage where talented and ambitious fighters who will lead the next generation of combat sports can fully showcase their appeal and take a leap forward.
