RIZIN Fight Preview

RIZIN Fighting Federation will hold its next event in Japan on April 16 this year, staged at the Yokohama arena. RIZIN promises to deliver another cocktail of matchups. One of which MMA Japan is looking forward to in particular is “King” Reina Miura versus Jazzy Gabert “Alpha Female”. On paper, their MMA records are pretty simple (2-0; 1-0 respectively) but don’t let that fool you. Both train very seriously and are very athletic and skilled.

Miura recently took a unanimous decision win over Shayna Baszler in DEEP Jewels 15, no mean feat. She trains out of Reversal Gym Tachikawa ALPHA and has excellent grappling tuition. She is 20 years old, 5’3″ and 155lb.

Her German born opponent, Jazzy Gabert, has a background in pro wrestling and has recently taken to MMA, calling out Gabi Garcia (4-0) at the 2016 NYE RIZIN show at Saitama Super Arena. Gabert is 14 years Miura’s senior, 6’1″ and just under 200lbs. Quite a difference one might say.

Miura has shown she can hang with the best, but will the height and nearly 45lbs in bodyweight make it a one-sided fight? Or, will she show the heart and courage the fans love to see? Whether you see yourself as a “hardcore” MMA fan or not, you’ll probably tune in in hope of witnessing a Pride era type train wreck.
