Rizin : Fukuoka

Rizin is fast becoming the top promotion in Japan. The brand of Rizin is very new. However, if you dig a little deeper into the history of the ownership you will find they are well versed in the fighting promotion game. Most of the top brass worked with or was involved in Pride back in the day and they bring that big show feeling with them to Rizin events.

On October 15th, 2017 Rizin is putting on an event in Fukuoka, Japan. In case you are not aware, Fukuoka is on the island of Kyushu. It is the second largest island in that makes up the nation of Japan. Kyushu is known for producing rock solid martial artists throughout the years and is home to many famous Dojos and gyms.

This event is looking like it will be a #Stormburner! Looking at the card there are some fights that really stick out and will be great to watch. You have mother and son, Miyuu Yamamoto and Erson Yamamoto, on the same card. The Yamamoto family is MMA royalty in Japan and they bring their A game to the ring. Miyuu Yamamoto is on a 1 fight winning streak and facing a much more experienced fight this time around. It will be exciting to see if she can keep her winning streak going.

Rizin has recently added new fights to this card and changed out Dan Henderson for Frank Shamrock. Originally, Dan Henderson was scheduled to face Kazushi Sakuraba in a grappling only match. Unfortunately, during the course of training Dan Henderson suffered an injury and had to pull out of the fight.  Due to this unforeseen circumstance, Rizin substituted MMA Superhero, Frank Shamrock to take over this match.

Another famous name on the card is Jerome Lebanner. This time he will be taking on the Deep Heavy Weight Champion, Roque Martinez from Guam. Roque Martinez recently dismantled Jaideep Singh back in July to gain the Heavy Weight Title.

Pancrase fighter, Shintaro Ishiwatari, after a long time period off, will be taking on Akhmed Musakaev. Back in May, Shintaro Ishiwatari took on Rafael Silva from Brazil. That fight went to the distance and Ishiwatari walked away with the win by unanimous decision. Currently, Ishiwatari is on a 4 fight winning streak and has not lost a fight since 2014.

Just like in the golden age of JMMA, Rizin is stacking this card with excellent and highly anticipated fights. Of course, MMA Japan will be there to cover this event live. Follow @mmajpn1 on Twitter for all the live tweets and photos from the event.
