Malaysia’s Jihin “Shadow Cat” Radzuan believes that she will be facing a well-rounded athlete in Denice “The Menace Fairtex” Zamboanga on 6 December at ONE: MARK OF GREATNESS in Kuala Lumpur.
Holding a record of 5-1, Radzuan looks to keep her slate intact, especially competing in front of her hometown crowd. Zamboanga, on the other hand, is looking to keep her unblemished 2-0 record in her ONE debut.
“I was happy with the choice,” Radzuan said.
“As you can see, she is quite a decent fighter, so I have no issues going up against someone like her. I think it is a very even match, too. She is undefeated, while I am protecting my 5-1 record.”
After a razor-thin decision loss to Gina Iniong and a submission win over Jomary Torres earlier this year, “Shadow Cat” is looking to close 2019 on a high note. She has been studying her third Filipina opponent this year to gain a competitive edge.
“I have studied her bouts recently, and I think she is kind of a grappler,” Radzuan said.
“However, she is a good striker, too. She is a tricky opponent. She has a few fight videos showcasing her striking skills, while some of the others exhibited her qualities as a grappler.”
Zamboanga is undefeated in her professional career thus far, with both of her victories coming via finish. Radzuan is not worried about facing the Fairtex representative, knowing that her hard work will pay off at the Axiata Arena.
“I do not have any concerns leading up to this match,” Radzuan said.
“It is just the usual ones we face whenever we face someone new. Right now, I am just training hard every day and hoping that it pays off.”
Radzuan is ready to go all out for her last match of the year and she expects Zamboanga to do the same. The Wushu World Champion and MIMMA Women’s Champion anticipates an action-filled filled bout that will have fans on the edge of their seats.
“I believe we will bring out the best of each other,” Radzuan said.
“We are both young, skillful and are aiming for something in our careers. Fans definitely would not want to miss our bout.”
